FAQs for Venmo Set Up

With Venmo, you do not need to add money to your account to begin sending money.

Once you set up Venmo with your bank account, you can send money and it will automatically be withdrawn from your bank account.

It may take 3 to 5 days to show the transfer in your bank account.

Tap the “Pay or Request” button.

Enter the name, username, phone number, or email address of who you went to send money to, then tap their name and icon.

Enter the dollar amount you wish to send and a related note for what it is for. Then, click “Pay.”

Venmo requires you to complete identity verification for your profile. Whether or not you are verified determines how much you can spend (both in sending money to friends and stores/merchants).

See other loading and transaction limits on Venmo’s Personal Profile Payment Limits page.
